Yeah, I know. Not really that hard to believe, is it?
Pat Boone has written a little tirade called “Hate is hate, in India or America“. It’s an awful rant that belittles the horrible terrorism in Mumbai and degrades homosexuals and same gender marriage all in one fell swoop. Way to go, Pat.
How anyone can back taking away civil liberties from thousands of Americans and then turn around and call them hateful is beyond me, but we’ve seen an awful lot of that sort of behavior from the right wing side of things lately. He even puts equal rights in quote, just to be a bit more smug and mock other people’s persecution a bit more.
from gay basher Pat:
Marriage is not a governmental creation; it is a time honored and biblically ordained institution
Well, try getting married without a nice little license from the government, then. See how recognized it is.
He later states that marriage isn’t biblical. Whatever fits his argument at the time, I suppose.
these privileges did not originate with some benevolent higher authority
more from angry pat
Slavery was abolished, blacks and women obtained the rights to vote, and these true rights were not obtained by threats and violent demonstrations and civil disruption (though these things did occur, of course), but by due process, congressional deliberations and appropriate ratification.
Well, here’s a picture from a women’s suffrage protest. And I won’t even mention the civil war or the race riots from the 50’s and 60’s. But I will mention that Mr Boone should try being one of those “kind” Christians I hear about, instead of a hateful and intolerant one.
